85 Vintages, 5 Generations, 1 Family Previous Next As the buds start to burst on our 85th Vintage we can’t help but get a little nostalgic and proud of what our family has accomplished. Since docking in New Zealand in 1927 our family has been embedded in the wine history of our country. So, we figured why not take you on a walk down memory lane? Bartul Soljan decided it was time to leave our home land of Stari Grad, Croatia, so with his family in tow he boarded first the Ulimaroa and then the Orsova and begun the journey to New Zealand. Upon landing on NZ soil he did what he knew – he started planting vines! His wines were produced under the label “Pergola Wines” and he quickly became known around town. Soljans 2020 In Review

I think we can all agree, 2020 was a hard year all round. But, there is no benefit on dwelling on the negatives so we wanted to take a moment to look back at the highlights of our 2020! We were lucky enough to have the production side of our winery deemed an essential industry which allowed us to continue making wine (under strict rules of course). Our team here rallied behind us and we all worked together to get the grapes in on time and then lockdown was on. Our winemaking team was on a rotating schedule on site to tend to the wine, and the rest of us were working from home. Once lockdown was lifted, we excitedly got underway planning and prepping! and unfortunately were quickly stopped by the second lockdown, but! Once October rolled around, we were finally ....

Soljans Estate Winery is proud to finally present to you our brand new creation. The Grandmaster Fine Old Tawny Port. The Grandmaster is an exclusive, limited edition handcrafted blend, made by the third generation and current owner, Tony Soljan. The base wine was vintaged and solitarily matured in French oak brandy barrels when Tony and wife Colleen celebrated the birth of their first child, Tonia Soljan in 1968. Each bottle has been numbered by hand and each box contains a glimpse into the history of the Soljan Family. The Grandmaster is only available instore while stocks last as we have produced a limited amount.
