I think we can all agree, 2020 was a hard year all round. But, there is no benefit on dwelling on the negatives so we wanted to take a moment to look back at the highlights of our 2020!
We were lucky enough to have the production side of our winery deemed an essential industry which allowed us to continue making wine (under strict rules of course). Our team here rallied behind us and we all worked together to get the grapes in on time and then lockdown was on.
Our winemaking team was on a rotating schedule on site to tend to the wine, and the rest of us were working from home. Once lockdown was lifted, we excitedly got underway planning and prepping! and unfortunately were quickly stopped by the second lockdown, but! Once October rolled around, we were finally able to debut our Themed dinners! Kicking off with Croatian Night, it was a success! We have now completed 2 more themed dinners, Japanese Night and A Christmas Dinner also – all of which we have been so proud of and look forward to the year ahead!
We owe you, our supporters, a huge thank you for helping us stick around through the year. With everything closed, online sales became our only source of income, so we took a chance and posted about us on the New Zealand Made Products page (now known as Chooice). It paid off. We received the most orders we had ever received in a 2 day period and had our whole bubble in over the weekend to help Tyler pack orders and get everyone’s wine sent out – so thank you, we truly do appreciate having such an amazing support crew rooting for us.

One of Amber Soljan’s final university assignments required her to make a little documentary on something local and close to her, she chose to produce this piece on how covid affected the wine industry and spoke to some of our local wineries to get a little bit more info.
